About the Lecture Series

The Multidisciplinary Transfusion Medicine Lecture Series is an academic and professional development program organized by Blood Cells Rescue Initiative (BCRI) in collaboration with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington and in partnership with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology College of Medicine.

The series is designed to strengthen knowledge, improve clinical practice, and promote safer transfusion systems across African healthcare settings. It brings together professionals from different disciplines, including physicians, medical students, laboratory scientists, blood bank personnel, nurses, researchers, and other healthcare workers involved in patient care and blood transfusion services.

Through expert-led lectures, the series explores key areas of transfusion medicine, including donor recruitment and eligibility, blood collection and processing, pretransfusion testing, compatibility testing, blood component therapy, transfusion reactions, haemovigilance, patient blood management, and quality systems in transfusion practice.
