We are on a mission to save 1 million lives with blood cells
The Blood Cells Rescue Initiative (BCRI) is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring the availability and accessibility of safe blood for everyone who needs it, when they need it most. Founded in response to Nigeria’s growing blood shortage crisis, BCRI stands as a beacon of hope — bridging the gap between life and loss, between despair and recovery.
Every year, thousands of Nigerians — especially women, children, accident victims, and sickle cell patients — lose their lives due to the unavailability of safe blood. Our mission is simple yet urgent: to make safe blood available and accessible to all in a cost-effective and timely manner.
We are enabling the availability of blood and blood products across all areas where it is needed through:

Our Impact
Saving Lives, One Drop at a Time
BCRI was born out of the recognition that the lack of safe and sufficient blood supply is one of Nigeria’s most preventable public health challenges. Since our inception, we have worked passionately to raise awareness, promote voluntary blood donation, and build partnerships that strengthen the nation’s blood transfusion ecosystem.
Through community outreach, advocacy campaigns, and collaborations with hospitals, schools, and health organizations, we’re turning awareness into action — and donors into life-savers.
Since our founding, BCRI has organized multiple blood drives, media campaigns, and educational programs, reaching thousands of people across Nigeria. Each initiative brings us closer to a future where no life is lost due to lack of blood.
